Yesterday, Molly and I went to the Delaware County Fair. It was the first time we'd been to this county fair, and we enjoyed ourselves. We checked out a lot of animals: chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, sheep, horses, cows, goats, llamas, alpacas, donkeys, miniature horses, etc. We also visited the arts and crafts building and the commercial buildings, and we watched a few of the horse races. Molly's favorite things to see were the goats, like she raised in 4-H. My favorite animals to see were the alpacas. I think they are very cute and their wool is soft and fluff (great for a spinster like me). Plus alpacas (and llamas) hum!! So wonderful!

Two alpacas
These two seemed like a younger one and an older one, perhaps mother and child. The one in front was the smaller one.

As we were leaving the fair grounds, we decided to walk through the dairy barn and see those cows. We were so glad we did, because this is what we saw:

Cows named Jenny and Molly

Right next to each other are cows named Jenny and Molly. It was too funny! The owner of the cows took pictures of us with the cows.

If you get a chance to visit a local fair, I recommend it. It can be a lot of fun.

Another recent event was buying a new cage for our gerbil, Rosie. She had chewed up all the plastic parts of her previous cage. She chewed up the shelves, she chewed on the cage bars, she chewed on the harder plastic tubes, she chewed on her wooden house, she chewed the running wheel off the axle and then she chewed up the wheel, she even was chewing up her food dish until we replaced it with a ceramic one. Gerbils chew a lot! You can see Rosie in her first cage here. This is her new home. She really seems to like the two and a half levels, more space, and new things to chew on!

It is spring break week, and Molly and I have been busy. Unfortunately we were scheduled for LOTS of hours at work, because only a few people were around to work. However, we've also been busy working on some of the stuff for our Holy Union, to be held May 26th. We're working on invitations. We are gathering addresses and designing the invitation. I set up an event on Facebook. We registered at Target and Bed Bath & Beyond! That was fun -- dreaming of what we might someday want :) Plus there is schoolwork to get done, etc. Work has been somewhat more stressful than it had been for a while, since the old catalog ends tomorrow, and our supervisor hs been very stressed getting things transferred to the new system. Meh -- blech!

Our other news is Rosie! I will post pictures soon, but Rosie is our new gerbil :) She is very sweet and inquisitive and intelligent. We got her last night. She has a purple cage that sits by our computers so we can spend time with her. The cats, esp. Sparky and Zephyr, were fascinated. We need to train Zephyr how to interact nicely with Rosie and try to keep him from knocking her cage down or crushing it from above. She was very curious about them, too. She has wonderful whiskers =..= I will get pictures soon.
