Yesterday was quite windy, so Molly and I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try out the two kites we had gotten from Molly's sister, Cindy, for our Holy Union. We took the kites to the big soccer fields at Mingo Park in Delaware. The kites were remarkably easy to assemble and a lot easier to fly than any kites we recall trying to fly in our childhoods.
The first kite we launched was the Butterfly Kite.

It was more fluttery and somewhat harder to keep in the air. It had its "caterpillar moments."
Our second kite is the Rainbow Diamond.

Rainbow kite loves flying as high as possible and staying up. From time to time, it would plunge toward the ground only to streak toward the open sky again (at the last moment before crashing or tangling).
Here Molly has managed to get Butterfly kite up quite high.

I'm flying Rainbow Kite here.

(The wind was having fun with my hair, too!)
It was so bright and sunny, that, coupled with the kites' soaring and weaving, they proved difficult to capture on film. Such are the ways of wild things.
As usual, you can see all my photos (21 kite pictures!) on flickr.com
