Today they are cutting down the ash trees all around the apartment complex. This summer an ash borer was discovered, so they are cutting down all the ash trees within 2 miles of the infected tree. How is cutting down all the trees a better thing than having them possibly get infected???? (I know, I know, it is supposed to stop the spread outside the 2 mile radius, but you KNOW what I feel!) I really love trees, and it is very distressing to hear the chain saws and bulldozers and see them down all over. I like trees better than I like some people. I want to put in ear plugs or on headphones, but I am STILL waiting for someone to come pick up our old bed.
I am not at work today, because I feel yucky. . . head congestion, sore throat, plugged ears (a bit of a blessing, that), blechiness. . . Molly so graciously took my shift at work this afternoon, even though she isn't feeling excellent either. I want to take a nap, but I am waiting for the aforementioned bed pick up. I have reading to do and a paper due next week, but I just want to sleep, or not be here where trees are being killed.
In other news, our new bed is great. Queen size definitely works better with the cat occupants of the household. The bed is how Molly and I celebrated our anniversary. Molly is still dealing with her meds. change and adjusting her course load to facilitate that. This past weekend we went on an all church retreat with the North Congregational UCC. It was very beautiful at Templed Hills camp, and it was good to get away for a bit. There were lots of families, kids, and 2 dogs there. It was nice to experience lots of types of gay and lesbian families and to be ourselves while we were there.
I am thinking about writing something in the vein of MLK, jr.'s "I have a dream" speech about gay rights. Any suggestions?
Take care all.
