Hello everyone!
I am writing to bring you good news.
I saw the oncologist on Friday morning. We found out that the cancer I had was graded as very good on a scale of bad to good. There is no sign that the cancer has spread. There is only about a 5% chance of recurrence. I will not need any treatment at this time. I do not have to have further surgery (such as a hysterectomy) unless I choose to. All I need to do for now is have an exam and ultrasound every 6 months to make sure things are still normal.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and support during my recovery. Knowing now that I will not be needing treatment or surgery this summer, I can go ahead and plan to work this summer and resume classes in the fall. The insurance company is still collecting information on my claims, so I am not sure how much I will be paying in medical bills. The hospital has very graciously decided to pay whatever hospital bills I have that the insurance won't pay. I am hoping the doctors and other providers will also give me some consideration.
My incision is looking good and healing well. The part of the incision above my naval is nearly completely closed over now. I am gaining energy and enjoying good weather days. Yesterday Molly and I spent the afternoon at the zoo (we have a yearly membership). We saw a very cute baby koala! Today we walked along the Olentangy River behind our apartment and picked up broken glass and other trash for Earth Day. It is great to be able to be a bit more active.
It is a great relief to know that I do not require further treatment or surgery at this point. I will just be concentrating on healing. And, of course, I'll keep you posted.
